Underage informant buys booze in Barnesville

An underage informant succeeded in buying beer, wine or booze at a third of the stores in Barnesville that sell alcohol on Thursday, Jan. 22. The Barnesville police department conducted the sting at all 15 stores licensed to sell alcohol. Five were cited for furnishing alcohol to a person under age 21. Stores reported to be in violation include Reliable Mart, East/West Beverages, B and L Quick Serve, Marathon (formerly Bennie’s) and Krishna Food and Petro (formerly the Red Apple on Atlanta Street). Cashiers and clerks were issued citations and the businesses will be reported to the revenue service, said investigator Al Moltrum.
