Updated list of Holy Week activites

With a first weekend of egg hunts and other celebrations already past, Easter activities continue to abound in Lamar County through Easter Sunday, April 8. First United Methodist Church will hold an egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Louise Jackson’s house at 143 Murphey Ave. Sunrise service will be Sunday, April 8, 7:30 a.m. on the front steps of the church. At 9 a.m. a contemporary Easter celebration will be held in the fellowship hall, followed by an 11 a.m. traditional celebration in the sanctuary. First Baptist Church of Barnesville will host a Easter egg hunt April 7. Walkers through kindergarten will hunt eggs at 10 a.m. Those in first and second grades will seek eggs at 10:30 a.m. FBC Easter services are at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Easter Sunday. First Assembly of God will hold a flashlight Easter egg hunt at 7 p.m. Friday, April 6. Participants should bring their own flashlights. Games are also planned. Orange Grove Baptist will hold Good Friday worship, Jesus Christ’s Last Sayings, on April 6, at 7:30 p.m. Guest speakers will include Rev. Ricky Brooks of Christ Temple Ministries, Rev. Quinton Maddox of Gray’s Chapel AME, evangelist Thelma Taylor of Tabernacle of Christ Encouragement, minister William Perdue of Mt. Pleasant Baptist, Rev. Michael Davis of St. Phillip AME, Rev. Robert Releford of New Hope Baptist, Rev. LaDamiun Raines of Shekinah Glory Everlasting Ministries. Music will be rendered by the St. Phillip AME Choir. Dinner will be served. Bethel Baptist Church on Johnstonville Road will have its Resurrection Weekend annual church picnic and egg hunt at Ed Taylor Memorial Park from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7. The Youth Ministry Easter Production will be at 6 p.m. at the church. The Resurrection Worship Celebration will be Sunday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. For information call 770-358-1720. Calvary Baptist Church will hold its Easter egg hunt in Aldora Park Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m. April 8, Easter Sunday, Communion will be held at 11 a.m. Milner and Marvin United Methodist churches will join together for Good Friday service, April 6, at 7 p.m. at Milner Methodist. Easter services will be Sunday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. in Milner United Methodist; and 11 a.m. at Marvin United Methodist. First Works Church will hold its special Easter service Sunday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. with an egg hunt afterward. For information call 678-359-1616. Pine View Baptist Church will hold its Easter egg hunt Extravaganza, Saturday, April 7, with registration 11 a.m., and the egg hunt at 11:30 a.m. Matti Murner will tell the Easter egg story and there will be games for children after the hunt. Rock Springs Church plans an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, at 4 p.m. followed by Easter services at 6 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will be no evening service. The Lighthouse Church on Forsyth Street will hold a singing, Saturday, April 7, at 7 p.m. featuring The Micklers and other local talent. For information call 678-359-1272. Antioch Baptist, pastored by Rev. Keith Battle, will hold Easter sunrise services Sunday, April 8, at 7 a.m. St. Peter The Rock Catholic Church will celebrate Holy Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Good Friday, April 6, at 3 p.m. the church will hold Stations of the Cross and at 7 p.m. the Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion. On Holy Saturday at 8 p.m. parishioners will celebrate Easter Vigil Mass. On Easter Sunday, April 8, 10 a.m. Mass will be in English and the 1 p.m. Mass will be in Spanish.
