Matthew Christian Lively, 23, of Loumae Road, Griffin, Georgia was arrested by members of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division and the United Parcel Service (U.P.S.) Corporate Security. Lively, a six year employee of UPS was charged with the following: 12 counts of misdemeanor theft by taking, 11 counts of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one count of felony possession of a schedule III controlled substance.The arrest is a result of an investigation that began in April, when complaints were received from citizens. Citizens who receive medication through packages shipped by UPS were receiving empty packages. The investigation revealed the medication was being removed from the packages at the UPS station in Griffin and the empty packages were shipped on to the designated recipient. Examples of the missing medication include Morphine, Oxycodone, Percocet and Hydrocodone. Lively is being held in the Spalding County Jail on a bond of $81,264.00.
