Upson teen charged with starving dog

An Upson County teenager has been charged with starving a pit bulldog. From sheriff Dan Kilgore: On February 11, 2014 Deputies arrested Cody Shawn Pope, 18, of 136 Rualmaine Rd Thomaston for Cruelty to Animals. Upon arrival at a call to Pope’s residence deputies found a male Pitbull tied to a chain. The dog was severely emaciated and needed immediate medical attention. The dog was taken from Pope’s custody and released to the care of a local veterinarian. Once at the veterinarian’s office the dog was fed and examined. The dog had injuries to it’s skin from lying on a hard surface. Pope was taken to the Upson County Jail where he later posted a $3000 bond.
