Admission to some 40 counts of voting irregularities by one councilman have rocked the Jackson city council, resulted in huge fines and could lead to criminal prosecutions.http://www.wkeuradio.com radio is reporting councilman Tommy Rainey admitted to rigging the election which he won. He has been fined $158,000.Evelyn Brown was fined $500 for voting for Rainey in his district despite having moved from the area prior to the vote. Debra Brown was fined $20,000 for signing and certifying bogus ballots, according to the radio station.Marshall Avett, former publisher of The Jackson Progress Argus, was fined for voting in the election though he lived in Decatur at the time it was conducted.The case is expected to be presented to district attorney Richard Milam who will evaluate it for possible criminal prosecutions.
