Sheriff Larry Waller reported January 8 that he had no information on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placing a hold on Henry Abreu.Former sheriff’s investigator Rick McCreary reported Dec. 31 that customs and probation holds had been placed on the former Barnesville municipal judge whose most recent arrests came Dec. 30 on charges of solicitation of sodomy and stalking. ’I have heard nothing from immigration about Mr. Abreu,’ the sheriff said. Waller explained that Abreu’s attorney, Eric Hearn, had been instrumental in winning his release under house arrest on a bond of $2000. Probation holds are routine on arrestees who are on probation as Abreu was, Waller added. Waller said Hearn was working with probation officials to allow Abreu to move to a home he owns in Locust Grove while his latest case is pending. ’I think he will be moving to Henry County which will be good for all parties involved,’ Waller concluded.
