Water audit is ‘˜clean bill of health’

The Lamar County water authority got a clean bill of health on its 2008 audit at its June 23 meeting. ”We’re in a pretty good financial situation,” said auditor Tom Melvin. General manager “Amberly (Ferris) is doing a really good job down here.” With some $10 million in total assets versus $7 million in debt, the authority brought in $497,000 in revenue and had $604,000 in outgo. There was expenditure of grant and loan funds to the tune of $1.3 million in new water lines.
