Water Authority stays open for now

The Lamar County water authority is on its way to becoming non-existent and its general manager, Amberly Ferris, has resigned. However, it must remain in business until the transfer is approved by the state and completed. ’We can’t just stop paying the bills,’ said county commission chairman Jay Matthews. In a joint meeting last Monday night, the Lamar County commission and water authority voted to move forward with dissolving the authority and handing over the county water system to Barnesville.
