Water, water everywhere….and more rain tonight. Schools closed Monday

UPDATE: Due to conditions, Lamar County schools are closed today (Monday).

Heavy rains, which began before daylight Sunday, inundated Barnesville-Lamar County, filling creeks to overflowing and overwhelming the city’s storm water drainage system.

Church services were cancelled and roads closed. Suddeth and Steele roads remained closed at 1:15 p.m. Sunday. No serious issues other than flooding were initially reported, however.

More heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible through 8 a.m. Monday so be prepared.
