Veteran local educator Sandra Watts has been hired to serve as director of the Barnesville Boys & Girls Club. The club building is under construction on the elementary school campus and will open next month.Watts took on her new role Monday and began training in Madison. She is currently administrative assistant at LCMS where she will continue to serve.Watts is a native of Jackson and a graduate of Jackson High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in human services from Mercer University and has worked in the school system for 16 years as a paraprofessional and administrative assistant. She has also owned a home daycare center in Barnesville.She has been named the school system’s support person of the year several times and has won multiple, additional awards. She is dedicated to youth development and has a passion for working with kids and helping them grow as individuals.She is married to Ricky Watts and the mother of four children.The vision of the Boys & Girls Club is to assure success is within reach of every young person that enters the doors with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future. They are expected to demonstrate good character and citizenship.A fund-raising drive to kick off the club and its operations in ongoing.
