The Herald Gazette has had multiple inquires as to what GEFA is. GEFA is the acronym for the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.
According to its website, GEFA was founded in 1985 and “provides loans for water, wastewater and solid waste infrastructure; manages energy efficiency and renewable programs; administers land conservation loans; and manages and monitors state-owned fuel storage tanks”.
GEFA’s executive director in Hunter Hill, a West Point grad and US Army Ranger, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
GEFA is overseen by an 11-member board of directors which includes Barnesville city councilman Christopher Hightower.
