The railroad crossing on Veterans Parkway at the Nazarene Church finally reopened at about 9:20 Wednesday morning. The crossing arms had been stuck in the down position since before midnight Tuesday night, causing a massive traffic nightmare which tied up police and sheriff’s deputies for over nine hours.
Heavy morning traffic was rerouted around the mess. The railroad’s slow response time is being looked into.
