Larry Whitworth has requested and been granted a recount of the ballots cast in the December 1 runoff for the ward four seat on the Barnesville city council. The recount will be conducted on Monday, December 7 at 3 p.m. in the upstairs area of the Lamar County courthouse. In his letter requesting the recount, Whitworth wrote, “I have had numerous requests from voters within the ward that simply cannot believe the results as posted.” In the runoff, Whitworth lost to Robert Neal Devane 112-97.
