William Edgar Evans Jr.

Elder William Edgar Evans Jr., age 87, of Barnesville passed Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 in a Spalding County healthcare facility. Mr. Evans was born in Barnesville to the late Mr. William Edgar Evans Sr. and the late Mrs. Dollie Elizabeth Trawick Evans. Mr. Evans graduated from Gordon Military College High School in 1944 and from Gordon Military College in 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. Mr. Evans worked at the Warner Robins Air Force Base for 42 years. He pastored the High Shoals Primitive Baptist Church and the Union Primitive Baptist Church for 35 years. Survivors include his sons Tim Paul Evans (and Deborah Scarborough Evans) of Johns Creek; William Ovid Evans of Thomaston; a daughter, Dollie Lynn Chatfield (and John) of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Stone of Alpharetta, Andrew Edgar Evans of Woodstock, William Wade Evans of Zebulon and Jessica Evans Strickland of Woodbury; and three great-grandchildren, Caroline Olivia Sharp of Alpharetta, Evans Hofer Stone of Alpharetta and Sandie Noelle Evans of Woodstock. Funeral services for Elder William Edgar Evans Jr. will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
