William James Rooks

Mr. William James Rooks, age 88, of Barnesville passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 in a Barnesville healthcare facility. A native of LaGrange, he was the son of the late Mr. Ernest Floyd Rooks and the late Mrs. Alice Geneva Turner Rooks. Mr. Rooks retired from Central Georgia Railroad as a signal maintainer and also retired from the bleachery at the William Carter Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Survivors include four sons, Floyd (and Billy) Rooks of Oglethorpe, Richard (and Gail) Rooks of Barnesville, Neil (and Josie) Rooks of Barnesville and Wade Rooks of Yatesville. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. William James Rooks will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the service hour. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center, 141 Futral Rd., Griffin, Ga., 30224, steppingstonesschool.org, or to the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, 200 Zebulon St., Barnesville, Ga. 30204 fbcbarnesville.com.
