William Walter Hughes Jr.

William Walter Hughes Jr., 85, of Barnesville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Barnesville, Ga., with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Garth A. Forster will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Walter Hughes was born March 14, 1928, in Cobb County, Ga., to Emma and Walter Hughes. He was the oldest of five children. He was retired from CIGNA Insurance Company and was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was originally from Dunwoody, Ga., moving to Barnesville in 1996 and has made his home there for the last 17 years. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia Hughes of Barnesville; three children, Trini Hughes of Barnesville, Brian (Kelly) Hughes of Barnesville and Mark (Susan) Hughes of Dacula; nine grandchildren, Keely Poore, Justin (Brittany) Poore, Megan (Jody) Osborne, Ron Brazas, Matthew (Jolee) Hughes, Hollie Brazas, Jared Hughes, Hunter Hughes and Hayley Hughes; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Harley) Kimmons of Cumming and Barbara (Marion) Worley of Cumming; and one brother, Don (Myrland) Hughes of Dallas.
