Williams’ body found

The body of Lori Williams of Lamar County, who has been missing since May 2, was found just after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon in the woods of south Monroe County where her car was located Sunday. Spotters in a helicopter located the body near a creek, landed to check its findings and then directed searchers on the ground to it. GBI crime scene specialists are at the scene, according to sheriff Brad White. ”This is not the type of area a woman would choose to commit suicide,” said a resident of the neighborhood who identified herself only as Diane. Several family members and friends of Williams were at a logging deck off Kopfler Road where a GBI crime scene van is parked. They were weeping and vocal with each other but would not talk to members of the press gathered there. Williams’ body will be taken to the state crime lab for autopsy. Her family has been notified, the sheriff said.
