Williams lands plum banking appointment

Barnesville native Derek Williams has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Community Banking for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Williams was one of eight new appointees to the committee and replaced Dan Blanton, a prominent banker from Augusta. Williams is president of First Peoples Bank in Pine Mountain, Ga. and the son of Jan and Billy Williams of Barnesville. He also serves as a member of the Gordon State College Foundation. He and his wife, Karen, have three daughters Maggie, Betsy and Molly.
