The higher amounts are expected to be across the eastern part of the state. Snowfall amounts of up to around an inch and a half are possible… mostly in the northern part of central Georgia. * Timing… freezing rain will begin tonight… generally after midnight and continue into Wednesday. Some of the southern areas may see a brief change over to rain. This will transition to snow late Wednesday night. * Impacts… these high ice accumulation amounts will make travel impossible. This has the potential to be a catastrophic event. Widespread power outages are possible as ice accumulates on trees and powerlines and brings them down. * Winds… northeast 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.* Temperatures… lower 30s tonight… lower to mid 30s on Wednesday and upper 20s to lower 30s Wednesday night.
