Monroe County investigators are working a bizarre murder case that unfolded at a boat ramp.
From MCSO:
On March 23, 2022, at approximately 8:40 am, Monroe County Deputies received a report of a missing person. The missing person was 21-year-old Toriyahna Proctor from Monroe County. She was last contacted last night (March 22, 2022), and was with the father of her baby, 22-year-old Jadarius Watts from Forsyth.
They were travelling in a black Malibu, which belonged to Jadarius. Deputies began investigating leads and searching for the vehicle that she was possibly travelling in. At approximately 11:57 am, deputies discovered the Malibu at the Holly Grove Boat Ramp in Monroe County backed in a parking space.
Jadarius was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. Jadarius exited the vehicle and deputies began conducting a pat down search. Jadarius then started running and jumped into Lake Juliette. He was unable to swim and was rescued by the deputies. Jadarius was then placed in handcuffs.
Upon further investigation, Toriyahna was discovered, deceased, in the Malibu. Jadarius is currently in custody at the Monroe County Jail. Jadarius is being charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, and Murder.
The case is still currently under investigation. If you have any information regarding this investigation, please contact Investigator Marilynne Fitts at 478-994-7287.
