At its meeting Monday night, the Barnesville city council authorized the sale of city property for a wood pellet manufacturing firm that is eyeing an investment of approximately $50 million locally. The firm has plans to locate on 64 acres in the Meadow Railway industrial park adjacent to the existing Rayonier and Jordan Lumber plants. Initial employment would be approximately 50 people. Final acreage will be determined by survey, but approximately 64 acres will be sold for $13,500 per acre or around $864,000 in all.
