Various closings that have been completed in recent days or soon will be will clear the way for construction of the new student and activity recreation center at Gordon State College. The multi-million dollar project is underwritten by the Gordon State College Foundation and will be paid off using student activity fees. The multi-purpose building, which will include a competition gym for basketball, will rise at the corner of College Drive, Stafford Avenue and Highlander Way. The first stages of construction will begin this month. A formal groundbreaking is set for Jan. 16, 2014.
