Embattled Morehouse College police chief Vernon Worthy made a brief appearance in Lamar County superior court October 8 as the pretrial calendar was called. His legal team has filed multiple motions which will be heard November 12. Worthy faces charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault and pointing a pistol at another. The charges arose out of a November 11, 2008 confrontation in which Worthy allegedly pulled a gun on a local hunter whom he claimed was trespassing. Testimony at a magistrate court hearing last year, however, indicated Worthy was the trespasser.
