Morehouse police chief Vernon Worthy’s trial was delayed pending a hearing on motions filed by his defense team.Worthy faces criminal charges for allegedly pointing a pistol at a hunter last year.He had been scheduled for trial July 20. But that trial date was postponed when his case was called today in Lamar County Superior Court.Worthy’s defense lawyers have filed six or seven motions, according to prosecutors. Those motions must be heard by Judge Tommy Wilson before the case proceeds to trial.A hearing date was not scheduled, but prosecutors expect the defense motions will be heard in August. A new trial date will be scheduled.Worthy has pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment, aggravated assault and pointing a pistol at another during a hunting incident on Nov. 11, 2008.
