Yard sale ‘replica’ grenade detonated

If you heard an explosion near Roberta Drive in Barnesville just after 5 p.m. Saturday, it was a grenade going off. Sheriff Brad White reports a local resident bought what he thought was a replica grenade at a yard sale. ”He got to thinking about it and decided to let us look at it. It was the real thing,” the sheriff said. An ordnance disposal unit from Warner Robins AFB was called in and they detonated the grenade in a field across from the local detention center just after 5 p.m. Good thing the buyer didn’t pull the pin.
