Teresa Ann McCoy, 52, of 109 Pine St. in Yatesville has been starving horses – one to death.From Upson County sheriff Dan Kilgore:On January 31st 2014 at approximately 4:00 in the afternoon Deputies from the Upson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 103 Jackson Street (Yatesville) in reference to starving horses. Upon arrival three horses were found in need of feed and one horse was found dead. The Georgia Department of Agriculture equine health division , Upson County Sheriff’s Investigators and a Veterinarian dispatched by the state were notified of the situation. Once all parties were on the scene the animals were examined it was found that they there was evidence of neglect and malnutrition. The dead animal was 300 pounds under weight. Teresa Ann McCoy, 52, of 109 Pine Street in Thomaston was the caretaker of the horses. McCoy has been arrested and charged with four counts of Cruelty to Animals . She is in the Upson County Jail with a $14,000 bond. The deceased horse was buried on the property and the surviving animals were picked up and transported to a rescue farm in Milner, Ga.
